Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 24 December 2006 at 10:25

In order to close this year's additions to the FanArt section, rootay sent in 8 more pictures. His take on existing and new characters, mostly from the original series, is now available in the FanArt section. You can view the latest pictures only, or his whole gallery.

Settling in
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 19 December 2006 at 20:01

I have just noticed today that the contact form had been broken ever since the server move. I went over and did the required changes, so you can once again write me that way.

Also, I've been busy editing some of the site's files to improve the code and correct some remaining details related to the server move. You shouldn't notice anything, but please tell me if something starts to behave strangely... and you can use the contact form to do that!

Server move complete!
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 2 December 2006 at 22:59

The server move is now complete. All interactive sections should be back online and fully functional. In case that something is broken, please drop me a line so I can fix it.

Additionally, a problem with the previous server caused several e-mails to bounce back in the last month or so. This mostly affected users of free e-mail accounts such as Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail. If you tried to write to me, and I didn't send you any reply, try again: that issue has been fixed.

Earlier today, the hit counter passed the half a million mark. Let's go for the six zeroes, now!

Server move underway
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 23 November 2006 at 15:54

Interordi.com is changing of server, which requires both the message board and oekaki board to be offline in order to avoid losing any data. This move will most likely take a few days. You can check on the main Interordi.com page to follow the news.

FanArt display overhaul
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 21 November 2006 at 19:11

I've completed the work on a complete facelift for the FanArt gallery. The previous display was a mere listing of all the available artwork. However, at 306 pieces of art and growing, that list added up to 11 pictures pages, which made finding something drawn by a specific person a difficult task.

The new display separates everything by artist, so that each person gets his own page(s) featuring only his art. The main listing shows the latest picture contributed by that person. This makes it much easier for someone to give a link directly to their art for others to see, on a personal homepage or somewhere else.

The previous full listing is still available as well for those who want to browse through the whole archive.

Mega Man ZX Maps
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 7 November 2006 at 16:00

In a break of continuity, Mega Boy's latest map creation is not about the Battle Network series. This time around, his focus is on the latest Mega Man game for the Nintendo DS, Mega Man ZX. Since the game's areas are all interconnected, those maps can be useful to avoid getting lost somewhere. Tips about how to get some items are also provided. An overall map completes the package, this one used with permission from the Mega Man Homepage.

Now available: the Truth Corner!
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 31 October 2006 at 14:50

A new section called the Truth Corner is now available! This page lists common questions that often come up within the Mega Man community, such as "What are the colors of X and Zero's eyes?", "Is Protoman evil?" and "Is there a Mega Man 9?". I've built the page with the idea of using it as a quick reference in mind. As such, you can get a link for any of the items, allowing you to easily quote the text to someone looking for the relevent information. You could keep this section as a bookmark to quickly check on it if needed.

I'm also taking in ideas for other common tidbits of information that people often wonder about. If you have something that you strongly believe should be listed, drop me a note and I'll check on it.

More PC games info, details on X8
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 10 October 2006 at 22:01

I went through the PC Games section in order to do a series of changes. The various releases have been put apart from the text to show clearly what games are available in what languages. I corrected some of my comments on the page, and I updated the box previews for better-looking pictures.

A few weeks ago, while browsing Trygames' website, I found something great: Mega Man X8 is now available as a purchase-and-download game! After playing through the game, I can confirm that it is a solid port with about no problems. This is the only option for people who want the PC version of the game, yet don't want to import an asian version which can cost more than 40$ US. The details on the various releases for that title can be found near the bottom of the PC Games page.

The Mega Man Battle Network 4 maps are now finally complete thanks to Mega Boy's efforts. All areas are done, in the new style of course. This means that all of the six main games are covered, along with Rockman EXE 4.5.

Fan files
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 25 September 2006 at 22:04

The ever-going Fan Art section now holds two new pictures from two new artists. Tiga1000 went for a feminine twist of Mega Man with a picture featuring "Mega Man Woman". The second artist, DarkShadow, chose the ever-popular duo of X and Zero. The two new pictures are here.

This update also marks the opening on a new page within the music section: fan remixes! Brian Bibbo approached me with four solid remixes based on the Original series. You can download his take on the Air Man, Crash Man, Flash Man and Spark Man themes in the newly-opened page. I also now accept music submissions. As such, if you sequenced or remixed a theme from any Mega Man theme, send it my way! I'll take MIDIs, MP3s and modules (IT, S3M, etc.)

Main page updates, how to help
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 14 September 2006 at 16:59

I have updated the main page layout to improve it in some ways. First of all, you probably noticed the new "Latest news" header. I think it adds a little something that was missing on this page. I also copied the RSS icon to the top of the news to give it some added visibility. On a side note, the RSS feed has been updated a bit to fix the reported update times (they were off by a few hours), and to carry some more information.

The right sidebar now features a "Random quote of the Day", which displays a new quote from a random Mega Man game every day. The list of quotes was compiled thanks to some help from Breakman.

Finally, another new item on the right sidebar is called "Help this website!". Several people write to me offering to help with the website in some way, but they usually don't know what they can do. This new list features several interactive sections of the site where user input is especially welcome. When I'll have more options for interested users, they will be added to that section.

Here is a description of the various options now available:

  • Send FanArt: the gallery always welcomes more submissions from anyone who draws Mega Man FanArt. You can read the details on how to submit pictures there. Fan characters are also allowed as long as they fit in the Mega Man universe somehow.
  • Submit links: the link database is built to run on user contributions. Everyone can add a link to a website they know about, even if they are not the owner. You can jump right in and add all of the sites you know about, but of course, checked if they aren't already listed first!
  • Link to this site: a nice way to help if you are the owner of a website is to link to this place. The "Link to me" page offers several link banners and buttons in various sizes. Once you link to this place, remember to submit your own link!
  • Send feedback and comments: I always welcome feedback from new and old visitors alike! You can open that page to send me a message without opening your e-mail client.
  • Sign the Mega Man Manga Petition: the ever-running petition aims to convince publishers to release more of the Japanese Mega Man manga to North America, in English obviously.

Updated MMBN5 maps
Battle Network Series, by Dr. Cossack on 8 September 2006 at 0:09

Now that I'm done playing through the main story of Mega Man Battle Network 5, I've put the maps for that game in a proper order. Just like with the previous games, you'll find them in different categories along with the correct names for the various areas.

Updated MMBN1 maps
Battle Network Series, by Dr. Cossack on 1 September 2006 at 22:54

Mega Boy still has some love for the Mega Man Battle Network games, as he updated his Mega Man Battle Network 1 maps to match with the style he used in his last few updates. The new set of maps is easier to understand since it uses the same display style as the game itself. If you're struggling to get through that annoying PowerPlant stage, those maps will definitely help you!

Site downtime
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 13 August 2006 at 1:34

Because of some issues caused by my host's actions, the website and all related services were down from Saturday night to early Wednesday. I kept both the message and oekaki boards offline until I could do some backups and make sure that everything was in order.

As a side effect, all e-mails sent during the downtime have bounced back and I don't have them. If you wrote to me and I haven't answered yet, please send again your message so I can take a look at it.

Rockboard information update
Original Series, by Dr. Cossack on 21 July 2006 at 0:16

The Rockboard translation section has been updated to be more current to the status of the project, and a new screenshot joins the others already on display. There is no new patch available at this time. Progress on this translation has been going well lately, with me figuring out more key parts from the game.

Mega Man Battle Network 6 maps
Battle Network Series, by Dr. Cossack on 4 July 2006 at 23:46

Mega Boy is still going on strongly with his map creation. His latest release: the maps for all areas of the new Mega Man Battle Network 6 game. You'll find them on the newly opened MMBN6 info page. This should be useful for those who don't like getting lost on the maze-like levels that the series is known for. I also updated his contact information through the site to show his new e-mail address.

A new series... again.
Battle Network Series, by Dr. Cossack on 16 June 2006 at 0:38

The first Mega Man game came out several years ago, as Rockman, in Japan. In fact, we're getting closer to it's 20th anniversary. Capcom of Japan have started preparations for the event by creating a new website dedicated to this upcoming event. The content of that section is small so far, but there is one important tidbit of information: Capcom is preparing a sort of rebirth for the Battle Network series by creating a completely new title for the Nintendo DS, without using the previous characters and elements. As such, they call it a new series all together. The information is incomplete, so what will happen with this is mostly unknown. More information, and more anniversary celebrations from Capcom will follow in the upcoming months!

Dr. Cossack presents...
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 3 May 2006 at 16:33

... IOBoard!

The result of several months of work is now available as the message board is back online under a new system: IOBoard! I coded my own message board script to replace the XMB, much like IOekaki replaced the older oekaki board a few years ago. The new board has several new features, and I know that many of you were waiting for it to be back online. You can read more information in this topic. Enjoy!

Message board, REAL updates
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 1 April 2006 at 23:07

Obviously, yesterday's post about a message board update was somewhat fake, all set for April's Fools Day: the only actual change I did was to give everyone admin rights, and let the users battle among themselves. Within hours, the board was almost totally destroyed, the aftermath being an ugly place full of spam!

Of course, I did backups of everything, so nothing was lost. However, the board will be down for a few weeks while I do some real and needed updating. Please see the message board's post for more information on this!

Menu fix + wallpapers
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 15 March 2006 at 10:13

Users of the Mozilla and Firefox web browsers might have noticed that the animated met menu seen at the left never worked completely right because of a bug in the way that the browsers use JavaScript. After some hair pulling attempts, I've finally fixed it, so you get the same result using Internet Explorer and Mozilla / Firefox. Enjoy!

Also, to contribute to the recent wallpapers rush, Ash created two new designs. The first one has Gate in his golden armor, while the other is about Mega Man X5 and X6's pretty boy Dynamo. Both of these are, of course, available in the downloads section.

Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 2 March 2006 at 9:54

More wallpapers have come to the downloads section! X-shunin created two new variations of his "Extended Vision" wallpaper, all featuring SearchMan.EXE. On her side, Ash sent in her first file about Mega Man X6's Gate.

Also, on it's first update since it was put online, the Wily Wars savestate download has been updated: I've added a save that gives you access to Wily Tower from the Japanese version of the game (the older save for the English version is included in the same download).

Three new wallpapers

All of these are now available in 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 resolutions. Additionally, he updated some of his previous wallpapers to have those extra formats available. Getting them is just a click away!

I also took the opportunity to make a few corrections on the games for PC page about Mega Man 3's CD-ROM release.

News script update + RSS feed
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 28 January 2006 at 23:46

The news posting script has received some solid updates, mostly in the news archive section. The archives now have a better presentation with an improved navigation. It's also possible to link to a single news item by using the "[Link]" provided with each post. That's the best way to link directly a friend to an article!

Additionnally, this update allows me to offer an RSS feed for the news of this site. Those who are familiar with this know what to do: simply use the orange XML icon found at the botton of the news listing. Rockman ZX is official
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 13 January 2006 at 9:29

There were doubts, but there shall be no longer. For the last few days, rumors were floating left and right about a possible new Mega Man game, holding the potential of becoming a new series. It turns out that Rockman ZX is indeed true and in the works, as you can see from this new site on Capcom Japan's website. There's little to be seen right now, but it will most likely be updated with new information and pictures as time goes on. Note that this game is coming for the Nintendo DS.
