Updates about Mega Man 5 for PC
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 8 August 2001 at 0:00

As I got many e-mails related to Mega Man 5 for PC these days, I updated it's page to add many details that I was asked about in those e-mails. Note that I do not know when the next version will be out. I also updated the Rockboard Translation section, to give it the same look as the new MM5PC layout.

Various stuff
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 7 August 2001 at 0:00

Wow, I haven't updated for a week!? Let's make up for that...

Rockman X6 Website
Capcom Japan opened a few days ago the official Rockman X6 website. Although it's all in Japanese (as usual), you can see some new screenshots of the intro stage of the game.

New link
I added a new link in the Links by Characters page. Thanks to Quick Man for this.

New Fanart
Spring Man sent me another of his pictures, so I added it to the Fan Art page.

New faxes!
Misc Mega Man, by Dr. Cossack on 1 August 2001 at 0:00

New on Capcom Japan site today is the Volume #151 of their FAXes. Even if it's in Japanese, you can see some interesting information about current and upcoming Mega Man (Rockman) games.

The fax #12 is about Rockman X2: Soul Eraser (Mega Man Xtreme 2). There is nothing much to be seen here, since it's mostly text, probably related to the mavericks. You can view this fax here.

The #30-1 one is about various Capcom merchandise. Some new Rockman EXE cards are displayed there, along with some Rockman DASH (Mega Man Legends) figurines. View this fax.

#30-2 is dedicated to some guidebooks. Two of them are about Rockman X2: Soul Eraser, but I don't know the differences between them. Check it out by yourself!

Finally, #41 is related to some iMode games, a system only available in Japan (I don't know much about this). Those little games are from Capcom popular series, like Street Fighter and Mega Man. Try to see if you understand anything here.

Thanks to Servbot #20 for the news!

Virus warning
There's a nasty virus running around these days. You'll get a message looking like this:

Hi! How are you?

[A sentence about asking for your advice]

See you later. Thanks

[Insert friend's name here]

If you get such an e-mail, do not open the attached file! The virus is hidden there. If you think you are affected by this virus, check this page to learn how to remove it from your system.

The end of the N64
Finally, we reached that day... The very last Nintendo 64 game was released in Japan last week. That game is a horse simulation. You can read to text on IGNPocket site here. The Nintendo Game Cube will be out the 14th September 2001. This means that there will not be any new games for a Nintendo home console for a month and a half.

Updates
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 29 July 2001 at 0:00

You might have noticed a lack of updates lately. This has many reasons. First of all, there is nothing big happening in the Mega Man Community: the next game is supposed to come out in September. Next, I've been working many hours this summer, thus leaving me with less free time. More, I got many new games lately, plus the old games I haven't beaten yet, so this gives me a lot of job on my hands :-P Patience, patience... There is only 3 more weeks before I go back to College. As stupid as it may sound, I'll be able to update more often when I'm back at school.

Late update
X Series, by Dr. Cossack on 20 July 2001 at 0:00

First of all, my apologies for the late update. My job is hard on me these days...

Rockman X2: Soul Eraser released!
And another game of the ever-lasting Rockman / Mega Man saga is out! Rockman X2: Soul Eraser was released yesterday in Japan. This game is the sequel of Rockman X: Cybermission. Unlike it's predecessor, X2 has many new features on it. While the first game was a more-or-less direct port of the SNES games Mega Man X1 and X2 on the GBC, Soul Eraser adds brand new levels, weapons and characters in the game. You can now play as X or Zero, in eight Maverick stages from the SNES X1, X2 and X3. The game will be released in the US as Mega Man Xtreme 2, the September 15, 2001.

Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 17 July 2001 at 0:00

... Oekaki!

On this third project in the line of the Dr. Cossack presents, I'm now releasing the Mega Man PC Website Oekaki board!. Now I know what you are thiking: "What's an oekaki?!" An oekaki board is a modified version of a message board. The goal here is to draw pictures using the oekaki applet. You do any kind of drawing on the page, you save it, explain it a little, then people can reply on the board, saying what they think of your picture. You also get to give feedback to the other artists' work. Here are a couple of details about the board:

  • The pictures and the comments are on the same page, for easy viewing.
  • You can choose the width and height of your pictures, between 25 and 400 pixels.
  • No passwords or registeration needed to draw.
  • Cookie-based system so you don't need to enter your username all the time.
  • Java-applet loading quickly to draw.
  • Many tips about using the oekaki system are on the drawing page.
  • And, please... No picture made in 30 seconds to test the oekaki. Please take the time to do a good picture.

Many thanks to Servbot #20 for giving me this great idea! Before going to draw, you definitely should check the Rules page. Now, go to the Oekaki board and DRAW!

Busy, busy...
I'll be working many hours in the following days. I'll try to keep the normal rate of updates for the website, but I might not be able to answer to e-mails as fast as I do it usually. Please bear with me, my job is allowing me to pay for this website :-)

MegaCards Central update
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 15 July 2001 at 0:00

I made a good update on the MegaCards Central today, as I added many pictures. Previously, there were only pictures from characters of the original series. Today, I added many characters from the X series, as well as a picture of Mega Man EXE. If you don't know what MegaCards is yet, it is a way to send to your friends a postcard, by e-mail. Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 14 July 2001 at 0:00

I added to the Downloads section a new file: a Mega Man startup screen for Windows! I created this file many months ago for my own computer, so why not sharing it with you? :-) The installation is simple: go to the Downloads section, get the file, and extract the Logo.sys file to the C:\ directory. Just restart your computer to see the new screen!

  • X-Wing vs TIE Fighter
  • X-Wing Alliance

Two new sub-sites from Capcom Japan
Misc Mega Man, by Dr. Cossack on 6 July 2001 at 0:00

Rockman EXE 2 site
Capcom Japan have openned two new subsites. The first one, dedicated to Rockman EXE 2, is still small. It shows some photos taken from the Japanese event that happened a few weeks ago. There is also a few pictures of some new stage ennemies, and a bit more information. Click here to go there.

Rockman X2: Sould Eraser site
The second website is about the upcoming Rockman X2: Soul Eraser game (to be released here as Mega Man Xtreme 2). This one is more complete, with many new pictures and screenshots, and a lot of information about this upcoming game. Remember that everything is in Japanese... Go there to see this new site!

MMBN section updated
The Mega Man Battle Network section was getting awfully outdated, so I reworked it to add the latest news from Capcom Japan and Capcom of America.

Various updates
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 26 June 2001 at 0:00

New Fan Art
Spring Man sent me another of his great Fan Art pictures, so I added this one to the Fan Art section. This time, he drew an original character: Venom Hydra.

New Faxes
Capcom Japan blessed us with another update to their great faxes. This time, two faxes are related to the upcoming Mega Man games:

The first fax shows more about Forte EXE (Bass EXE) in Rockman EXE (yes, Forte is in EXE 1. No known word about EXE 2 yet. Don't be mistaken like most people.) We see Mega Man EXE fighting him, then how Forte attacks the ennemies. Click here to view the fax.

The second fax is dedicated to Mega Man Xtreme 2 and X6. Capcom Japan finally put up some pictures of X6, something they didn't do before (last screens were from Capcom of America). We have some new screenshots of Xtreme 2, with the stages of Flame Mammoth, Sting Chameleon, Launch Octopus, Toxic Seahorse (yes, an X3 stage!) and another stage I don't recognize... We also see Iris and the new enemy (Soul Eraser). Iris isn't looking exactly as she did in X4. She doesn't have her hat, and her chest doesn't have the same colors. Finally, at the bottom of the fax, we see some screenshots of the Intro stage of X6. Click here to see this fax.

New Rockboard Translation!
Projects, by Dr. Cossack on 18 June 2001 at 0:00

New Rockboard Translation Patch!
After a long wait, I finally did another translation patch for the Rockboard translation! Here is what's new:

v0.10

  • The title screen is completely in English now.
  • Some of the in-game menues have been translated.
  • The Met Race mini-game has been given a custom font, and is now completely translated.
  • Some of the setup menues text as been improved.
  • A small part of the in-game text has been translated.
  • I've learned a lot more about how the game works, so I'll be able to work faster.

The new patch brings the game to be 10% translated now. I've also updated all pages related to the Rockboard Translation to show the current translation status. Get the new patch now!

Release dates
According to the Mega Man Battle Network page on Capcom website, MMBN is now scheduled to be released on the October 15, 2001. Another delay for that game...

A bit late, but...
This was reported a few days ago, but I couldn't post it here before. On Capcom Japan website, at this page, you can see another upcoming event for the Japanese company. There, gamers with a GBA and Rockman EXE will be able to unlock a new character for the game: Forte (Bass) EXE! Fans of Bass will be please to know that he is in the game.

Rockman EXE 2 as also be announced, with a novelty that was only going with the original series games so far: the infamous "design your own robot master" is opened for EXE 2! This means that some robots we will encounter in this game will be done by fans!

New faxes at Capcom Japan!
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 29 May 2001 at 0:00

On Capcom Japan website, you can see some new faxes related to the upcoming Mega Man games. For those who don't know what they are, the faxes are some kind of a newsletter about the upcoming Capcom games in Japan.

The first fax is about Mega Man Battle Network. You can see some of the new robot masters in their EXE form: at the bottom of the page, from the left to the right, you have Magic Man, Pharaoh Man and Shadow Man. You can probably recognize the character in the middle at the right easily: yes, Dr. Wily, EXE version... He looks great to me :-) Click here to view the fax.

The second one is about the upcoming Mega Man Xtreme 2. You can see X and Zero fighting Wire Sponge, Flame Mammoth, Overdrive Ostrich and Launch Octopus. You also get the see bigger pics of the main characters. Who can you see, at the left? Yes, it is Iris! Since Xtreme 2 happens between X3 and X4, Iris is alive and doing well! You can notice she has the Repliforce symbol on her chest. Might the whole Repliforce be in that game too? That would be interesting... Click here to view this one.

New poll
Ok, I said the results would be up for one week, but I ran out of ideas to install a new poll ;-) The new poll is simple (as usual): Which message board would be the best? I don't if I should keep the current board (the Discus board), or install a brand new Ikonboard. The current board is simple to use, you don't need to register and is loading quickly; but the Ikonboard has many more features, like profiles and avatars. It's your decision! Cast your vote today!

Status of my projects
Projects, by Dr. Cossack on 23 May 2001 at 0:00

Many of you are wondering what is the current status of all those projects I'm wanting to complete, so here is the current work being done everywhere.

Website: I'm going to add a few reviews soon, and more MP3s in the MP3 section.

Mega Man 5 for PC: I didn't do anything on this one lately, sorry. I'll probably put more time soon on the level editor, allowing me to create the levels to play in the game.

Rockboard translation: Now this is going somewhere. I'm currently translating the Met Race. Soon, this should be done and I'll go to translate the different endings. Expect a new patch to download soon.

MegaBomber: The programming on the game itself didn't began yet, but I'm working into another program called "Cossack Chat". This is a chat program for Windows, to chat with anyone that you want (you need to know the IP address of the other person to do it). This chat program, once working without errors, will become the basic programming for MegaBomber. It will be used to connect and start a game with your friends.

End of school!
Yes, my classes are over! Now, I have 3 full months to do more progress on all those projects I'm trying to do. Doesn't that makes you happy? This means that you can expect more updates in the next weeks.

More X6 news
That Mega Man X6 is looking more and more interesting... GameSpot made a preview of the game, with the current information. Here are the main details:

"Due to strong consumer demand, Capcom has decided to continue the Mega Man X series." - Wasn't Mega Man 9 the biggest asking from fans? Hmm...

"Mega Man X6 takes place three weeks after Hunter Zero gave his life to save planet Earth from the crashing space colony at the end of Mega Man X5. The world is now a wasteland, and humankind has employed reploids to rebuild it. What looks like a smooth transition, however, is disrupted when Alia alerts Mega Man that a gigantic reploid has gone on a rampage, thus beginning his adventure." - Yes, three weeks only. Usually, there are a couple of months between the games... And Alia is still around. Let's hope there's an option in the game called: "Shut up Alia" :-P

"The game will utilize a "nightmare system," which, in effect, causes the player's actions in previous stages to impact events in future stages. Alternate paths, for example, could open up, and so could traps, new enemies, and the like. Each of the game's stages will also be randomized in terms of layout and enemy placement, ensuring a relatively unique experience each time the game is played. Scattered throughout the stages will also be friendly reploids, which will grant players power-ups when they are picked-up." Sounds fun, no?

E3 isn't over yet!

Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 18 April 2001 at 0:00

I got a request for a chat room, so there it is! You can chat about anything you want to. I'll not be always in the room, but I'll drop by from time to time. Access the chat room by clicking here. Next time, use the left menu, as usual.

Many things
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 14 April 2001 at 0:00

New affiliate and links
I added a new affiliate: Dustman's Domain. It's a small site for now but it will grow in the future. I also did some changes in the Links pages, to add some websites and other details. On another note, I changed the links to the Megaman Outpost to go to the real URL: http://megaman.retrofaction.com. I should have done this before...

Cassweb.net is dead
The Mega Man PC Website was a part of the Cassweb.net network. Justin Cass was getting too busy with other projects, so Cassweb.net is closing down. I removed the link to his website.

Rockboard and Mega Man EXE
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 11 April 2001 at 0:00

Current Rockboard progress
I changed the title screen of the game today, to put it entirely in English. It's looking great now! Check it out!

New fax at Capcom Japan
New faxes are on Capcom Japan website today, with some information about Mega Man EXE. You can see 2 new human characters, and 2 new ennemies: Skull Man EXE and Shark Man EXE! This adds a completely new character to the list. You can see the fax here.

Website problems...
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 6 April 2001 at 0:00

I've had some server trouble yesterday, causing many problems. What was the cause? My account was completely full.... The consequences? All CGI scripts were broke: the message board wasn't working, all updates are gone and MegaChess wasn't working. I've got a temporary fix, but I'll need to delete some files. I'll check into this in more depth this evening, but the MP3 archive will probably be scaled down until I upload the files somewhere else. This means: if you want a MP3, get it now! MegaChess is partly working: room 2 is the only one working for now, I'll fix the two others this evening. On it's side, the Message Board is completely working.

Also, all e-mails sent yesterday were lost (yes, again). You tried to contact me? Please send your message again, as I didn't got it!

Note that I'll restore the list of the past updates here today, so you'll see if you missed anything.

Minor updates
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 6 April 2001 at 0:00

I corrected the MegaChess scripts, so the 3 rooms are fully working again. Also, the readme file for Mega Man 5 for PC was not there, so I uploaded it (thanks Kevin). All old updates are there too, they just came back without warning... Go figure.

Everything should be fine now. Let me know if something else is not working properly.

More website update
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 4 April 2001 at 0:00

Main page update
First, I forgot to change the banner at the top of this page (banner for my Interordi.com domain). It's now fixed, and looking way better than the old one. Also, do you see those blue headers for each update? It makes it even easier to separate the different updates, and it's so pretty :-) Before, I always found it confusing to read this page.

Mega Man 5 for PC download is back!
That file was lost during the website revamp in January, but I was able to upload it again, so you can try the Demo 1 of Mega Man 5 for PC if you want!

New affiliate
I added Life of Wily as a new affiliate. It's not really a Mega Man site, but it's a daily comic using our favourite characters. Check it out!

SNK = Dead
Gaming, by Dr. Cossack on 3 April 2001 at 0:00

From GameSpot: "Citing debt of 38 billion yen, SNK has filed for bankruptcy. Aruze Ltd., which previously acquired an interest in SNK, began closing branch offices and lightening its inventory in March. SNK had filed for debtor's exemption under the Conciliation Act but decided it would file for bankruptcy before the exemption hearings could take place."

So SNK, after leaving the International market to stay in Japan, is completely dead in Japan... Many people hopes are turned toward Capcom, which was a great partner of SNK, to get what's left of their business to continue some of their games. I'll let you know if any future word is heard from Capcom about this.

You MUST have noticed the new main page right? From now on, I'll post all updates here. Please, if you happen to bookmark my website, bookmark the FIRST page! It's http://www.interordi.com/mega_man_pc/. I need that for my hit counter to work...

Release date updates
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 2 April 2001 at 0:00

I updated the page related to the Release dates, since it was not current. Note that Mega Man Legends for PC was pushed back to the 15th May 2001.

New counter, Message board posts
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 30 March 2001 at 23:00

I changed the hit counter on the main page. I was using www.counter.com services, but they are no longer free, and I'm not going to pay 20$ / month only to know the number of people who visits here. I'm now using www.bravenet.com services (good website, by the way). Also, I'm looking for some feedback, so I made a couple of posts on the message board. I would really appreciate it if you took a couple of minutes to go there and tell me what you think. To see what I posted, go to the message board, enter the Mega Man section, then click on Mega Man PC Website comments. Go post there!

Mega Man EXE and SAR
Misc Mega Man, by Dr. Cossack on 28 March 2001 at 23:00

Something new: I did a preview of the upcoming Mega Man EXE, so you can know a bit better what to expect in the game. It's still uncomplete, but all characters are there, along with a movie preview. Also, I added a link to see the introduction movie of SuperAdventure Rockman. If you want to know what is the graphic level of that game, check that out!

Some more links
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 27 March 2001 at 23:00

I added some links in the Links by Characters page. Those links were sent to me 3 weeks ago, but I forgot to put them up earlier... Sorry. I also removed the survey from the left menu, since I got all the answers I needed. Thanks to all of you who answered! In the next few days, expect more updates, as I have more free time to work on the website.

Quick update.
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 22 March 2001 at 23:00

I added a link to my survey in the left menu. Please, take a few minutes to answer it! I need 50 people to answer... It's important for me!

Survey
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 21 March 2001 at 23:00

I'm currently doing a school project. We are a team of 5 people simulating a shoe company. Because of that, we need to see what consumers wants while buying shoes. So, I took the time to set up an online survey to get your feedback. Please, would you spend a couple of minutes to answer it? It's important for my Administration class. Online survey about shoes. Thanks! On a side note, I removed the ICQ status indicator at the left, it was always on Disabled...

Lot of things.
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 16 March 2001 at 23:00

Ok, I wasn't able to keep my daily updates running for long, but I'll do my best :-)

RIP Sega's President
Isao Okawa, who was the president of Sega, died yesterday of a heart failure. He was 74 years old. He recently gave a big donation (695.7 million $) to the company to help it to get over the Dreamcast losses. We don't know yet who will take Sega's lead.

Mega Man 5 for PC current status
I'm still working on that game. These days, I'm working on a level editor, so I can do the levels to use in the game. Also, when Mega Man PC is released, YOU will be able to create your own Mega Man levels using it! Don't you think that's a good idea? ;-)

ICQ and Rockboard screenshots
Projects, by Dr. Cossack on 7 March 2001 at 23:00

I added a little picture at the top of the menu to tell if I'm currently online or not. Sometimes it will just say Disabled, without reason... at least it's there. Note that even if you see that I'm online, it doesn't indicate that I can answer to e-mails and such: I'm online half of the day anyway :-)

Also, I uploaded a few more screenshots of the Rockboard translation for you to see where this is going.

About the Wily Tower save state...
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 6 March 2001 at 23:00

E-mail script fixed
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 5 March 2001 at 23:00

Look at me, I'm updating daily, I'm updating daily! *ahem* Seriously, I'm finally able to update more often, as I promised after that website revamp at the end of January. On another note, someone warned me that the e-mail form in the contact page wasn't working. I fixed it, so you can now send me messages directly!

Maybe some of you saw it, maybe some others like me didn't have the chance to see that Mega Man commercial airing at some channels in the US. I managed to find that Capcom is putting the commercial to download on their website! It's on their Mega Man page, available in two sizes.

*X5 SPOILERS* Hello! This is a quick update to show you 2 pictures. It seems that most people never noticed that in X5: when you defeat Zero playing as X, or defeat X playing as Zero, your opponent will use the Soul Body against you. Since very few people ever noticed this, I got two screenshots of that final attack.

New Rockman EXE Screenshots
Battle Network Series, by Dr. Cossack on 28 February 2001 at 23:00

There's a new fax on Capcom Japan website, showing new screenshots for the upcoming Rockman EXE: we can now see clearly Fire Man EXE, Ice Man EXE and... Number Man? It looks like that game will include some original bosses after all. I'm looking forward to this game...

Lack of updates...
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 25 February 2001 at 23:00

I apologize for the lack of updates these days (these weeks maybe?), but I had a lot of work at school... In two weeks, I'll have a full week without going to College, so I'll be able to do more work of Mega Man 5 for PC and this website. I have some good ideas to improve this place!

New affiliate, Wily Tower now playable!!!
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 11 February 2001 at 23:00

Good things today! First, I added a new affiliate on the menu: MegaMan CyBORG's Collective.

Now, something great: Havok, from Capcom BBS, was able to do a save state to access Wily Tower, from the game Mega Man: the Wily Wars! He kindly let me put the file on my website, so get it here! To use it, unzip the file, rename the save file to match the ROM (example, if your ROM is MM-WilyWars.smd, rename to file to MM-WilyWars.gs0), then put the file on your Saves directory. Run Genecyst, open Wily Wars, hit F7, and you can play the extra levels! Enjoy!

Ooops...
Misc Mega Man, by Dr. Cossack on 6 February 2001 at 23:00

Did I said I would update more often? Well... Mega Man X5 is currently in stores, a lot of people in the US have already got it. Myself, living in Canada, still need to find my copy. Now, after Mega Man Legends is released (15th March 2001), and Mega Man EXE (July 2001), there's no more Mega Man games in sight... but don't worry: the beginning of a year always has some lack of new games. Everything comes at the same time at the yearly E3. We shall see...

Message board
Don't forget about the newly opened Message Board! I really want to see some posts there!

WEBSITE REVAMP!
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 30 January 2001 at 23:00

After all that waiting time, the Mega Man PC Website revamp is now done! From now on, you can expect more updates. Here's the list of what's new!

  1. First of all, I converted all pages to PHP. What does this means? I'll be able to update more quickly. For example, do you see that little copyright notice at the bottom of each page? Well, now it's stored in ONE file, so if I want to change it, I just need to modify a single file, and it will change all over the website! I did the same for the sub-menus.
  2. I installed the NewsPro script for the Updates page (the one you are reading right now). This means that I'll now be able to post news even from school, so expect a lot more updates!
  3. In case you didn't notice yet, I put the background darker, so the text is easier to read. The left menu was also modified.
  4. The Release dates page, awfully outdated, is now all good all clear!
  5. NEW! A Reviews section! For now, the only review is about SuperAdventure Rockman, but I plan to add more games very soon!
  6. NEW! A Music section! You can download here a bunch of cool MP3s, including some files never seen on the Internet before! Those were recorded by yours truly :-)
  7. I changed the old poll for 2 new ones about Mega Man PC, go to vote now!
  8. NEW! The old Message Board (lord I hated it) was changed to a brand new one, using the same software as Capcom BBS. Now we can have some serious discussions! That new Message Board is shared between my website and the Megaman Outpost.
  9. NEW! On the Contact page, I added a form to send me messages directly, instead of using e-mail.
  10. Mega Man 5 for PC is not ready yet, as I spent a LOT of time doing the website revamp, but I added some screenshots from the upcoming Demo 2! They are a must see!
  11. NEW! I added an affiliate section at the bottom of the left menu. If you mailed me about affilating and I said No on the past, mail me again and I'll add you! I'll not allow a lot of affiliates, so be sure to grab a place soon!
  12. The Mega Man PC Website is now part of the Cassweb.net network.
  13. There's just too much to say here, take the time to visit each section one by one to see all of what I did!
  14. In case you care, I also changed my complete Interordi.com domain! Go there now!

You really read all of this? Congratulations, you are great! Now, what are you waiting for? Visit each section to see what's new everywhere!

Emulation section is GONE
Site news, by Dr. Cossack on 7 January 2001 at 23:00

Quick update, but big effects: the emulation section is now DOWN. My hosting company asked me to remove all emulation files, so that's what I did. Now: don't even ask me again about ROMs. All letters will be IGNORED. Deal with it. Find them by yourself, and don't rely on me anymore. Remember: ROMs are against law.
